Coronavirus: Sikchi Resort’s Efforts
From Providing Essentials to the Police to Distributing Food to the Migrants
“We cannot do all the good that the world needs…
but the world needs all the good that we can do!”
Amid the coronavirus pandemic lockdown, the country’s underprivileged are the most affected section of the society. With Maharashtra being one of the most affected states, movement of essential items is restricted.
In the wake of the crisis, a lot of people in position have come forward to help in however way possible.
Sikchi Resort has always been involved in the development of the surrounding area through multiple projects. And in this hour of need, we haven’t shied away from our responsibility towards the community. After all, we are in this together.
Right now, it’s vital that we all stay indoors. Our police force is working day and night to implement this in the best way possible. Keeping their safety in mind, the Sikchi Trust has equipped the entire police force at Walgaon, Maharashtra with sanitizers, face masks, hand gloves, and other essential supplies.
In this lockdown, some lives have been affected more than others. The migrant workers have been the most vulnerable community. To cushion the impact of the crisis on these segments, we have provided shelter and food to the migrant labourers of the region.
With the disruption of the supply chain of food, the Sikchi Resort restaurant will also run as a relief kitchen. By practising the necessary government, health, and safety guidelines, we will provide two meals a day to the needy in the area.
The community hospital run by the Sikchi Trust will offer medical services at a nominal cost of Rs. 30 during this time of need.
Sikchi Resort also contacted the gram panchayat to discuss the situation and extend help. They have accepted our offer to house covid positive people for quarantine purposes. Our resort is currently in reserve but will be used as and when the need arises.
In addition to this, in April and May, Sikchi Charitable Trust organized meal kits distribution to the poor and homeless. Breakfast, lunch and tea was distributed to around 400 people who are financially struggling during this lockdown. On May 22nd, 2020, they organized a bigger event to target around 1000 people. The below video will give you more information.
On a separate occasion at the end of May, Premkishor Sikchi and Prabha Sikchi gave out nutritious meals and Covid-19 preventive Ayurvedic medicines to 150 desolate and needy children.
We are immensely proud of the entire team at Sikchi Resort and Sikchi Trust to implement these relief measures in such a timely manner!
